The passenger side went must as the driver’s side did, albeit slightly faster since I knew what I was getting myself into. I started with the top flange of the firewall where the export brace bolts to. There was a lot of pitting and some holes from where spot welds ripped out rather than separating cleanly so it was time for some fresh metal.

The passenger’s side had much less rust damage down the outer edge of the firewall compared to the driver’s side, always nice to be able to cut out less metal.

Sitting inside the car and leaning out over the dash through the windshield frame to weld the inside of the top firewall flange was a fun experience. Not something I ever thought I’d be doing during the first 15 years of driving the car.

Thankfully I had far fewer issues with the top piece of the A pillar base on the passenger’s side than I did on the driver’s side.

Just like that all the rust on the mating surfaces for the lower cowl were repaired and ready for the install of the cowl.
