With the cowl complete I was able to reinstall the apron extensions that tie the top of the engine bay aprons to the top of the cowl. I had ordered replacements for these since they weren’t expensive, but after test fitting the reproductions against the originals I decided to clean up and reuse the originals.

While cleaning up the originals I tried out a new wire brush drill attachment and apparently decided that the best idea was to hold the apron extension in my hand while using it. Probably not the best idea.

With the extensions cleaned up and the undersides coated in rust encapsulator the balance of the work was to mark out the appropriate locations for the spot weld, grind down to metal, weld up the spot welds, and grind everything smooth.
